Businesses’ use of lawyers us on the increase more than for any other group. There are several reasons for this. Complexity and internationalisation are often emphasised. Another trend is the fact that the role of the lawyer has changed. The traditional conception that lawyers write agreements and are called on when disagreements arise, is no longer accurate. Today, lawyers are used more often as advisors and sparring partners, and they are often an integral part of the expert group that develops and operates companies.
This development also entails stricter requirements with regard to advice and knowledge that lawyers can offer. Being a skilled advisor to businesses is demanding. Besides expertise and understanding business, there are now other requirements when it comes to access and availability.
